What Happened to the Apple Store at Stonebriar Centre?

If you’ve been to Stonebriar Mall recently and found yourself wondering, “Where’s the Apple Store?”—you’re not alone. Even years after its closure, people still stop by our Import Crate kiosk asking for directions to Apple. Here’s what actually happened—and why it matters if you’re shopping in Frisco.

The Apple Store Closed in 2019

The Apple Store at Stonebriar Centre closed permanently on April 12, 2019. It had been open since 2009 and was one of the go-to locations for tech shoppers in the area. Apple didn’t give an official reason for the closure, but news outlets speculated it was part of a legal strategy to avoid patent litigation tied to the Eastern District of Texas, where the Frisco location was based.

Where Can You Go Instead?

Apple fans in North Texas now have just three official store options in the Dallas area:

  • Apple NorthPark Center – Dallas, TX
  • Apple Galleria Dallas – Dallas, TX
  • Apple Knox Street – Dallas, TX

Each is at least a 25–45 minute drive from Stonebriar Centre, depending on traffic.

So Why Do People Still Ask?

Stonebriar is one of the most visited malls in Texas—drawing over 12 million visitors annually. For a long time, Apple was one of the flagship destinations. Old habits die hard, and shoppers still associate Stonebriar with Apple, especially out-of-town visitors or people who haven’t been to the mall in a while.

While You're Here: Check Out Import Crate
